Computer-aided
techniques like CAD, CAM and FEM require an efficient coordinate
measuring technique in order to achieve exact correspondence
between numerical model and real component.
Using
the digitizing system ATOS (Advanced TOpometric Sensor),
an object can be measured in a short time and with high
local resolution. Each single measurement generates up to
1.3 million data points. The individual measurements are
merged into a project and the measured data can be exported
as point clouds, sections or STL-data. Additional hardware,
such as mechanical measuring machines, translation units
or robots, is not required. See also ATOS System variants.
Applications
Non-contact
and material independent 3d-digitization of arbitrary objects,
such as workpieces, models, moulds, sculptures, human body
parts, component damages etc. for:
-
generating
STL or CAD data
-
transferring
model modifications to CAD
-
creating
control data for the manufacturing on NC-milling-machines
and rapid prototyping systems
-
nominal/actual
comparison between object and model (CAD model, point
clouds or STL data)
-
quality
control, e. g. measuring deformations, fabrication defects,
spring-backs

our applications.
Measuring
Procedure
The
ATOS sensor head mounted on a tripod can be easily positioned
around the object. During the measurement, fringes are projected
onto the object surface and recorded by two CCD cameras.
From these images the software computes the precise 3d-coordinates
of up to 1.3 million object points. For a complete measurement
of complex objects the individual views are merged into
a single data set. The system automatically determines the
current sensor position and transforms the individual measurements
into a common object coordinate system. The operator is
able to control the progress on-screen at any time. The
calibration of the system, any object or sensor movement
and the impact of environmental light is controlled during
each measurement, thus ensuring precise and fast measuring
even under rough industrial conditions.
Features:
-
Simple
operation:
The
user can concentrate on the digitizing progress as all
the transformations are performed automatically by the
system.
-
Flexibility:
The
same sensor (ATOS XL) is capable of measuring small
and large objects (10mm up to 10m).
-
High
detail resolution:
Due
to the high point density, details of the component
can be depicted precisely. The accuracy of the measured
data is comparable to that of single frame coordinate
measuring machines.
-
Mobility
The
system can be transported in two flight cases (part
of the standard equipment) by car or plane
